November is my favorite month...

Its cool enough to wear all your safety gear without sweating, the light is stunning, there are no tourists and nearly everyone else is in bed!

These shots show one of the busiest roads in California, the Pacific Coast Highway, with no one on it, total joy, followed by a spin up the canyons to a lovely breakfast at the Rock Store. The cool weather also keeps most of the bikes away at this time of year, the temps on this morning's ride ranged from 0ºC to 15ºC (32ºf - 60ºf).

Very nice pics macfly thanks for sharing those.

you really want to return to the UK and ride there

You know some of my most memorable rides ever have been in the UK, I rode my old Laverda all the way the Welsh coast from London for lunch many times, A44 to Aberystwyth - what a ride! Another incredible ride was taking the Jota from London all the way to visit cousins in Lochinver the very north west of Scotland on a sunny August week. It took just 10 hours door to door, with an average speed of 65mph, but you couldn't do that today without going to jail!

Most fine weekends I'd ride from London back down to Beaulieu in the New Forest where I grew up taking the M40 out to High Wycombe, then cut cross country on the B4009 down to Newbury, then drop south on a succession of stunning country B (back) roads to the forest. The rides here are amazing, but on a sunny weekend the riding in the UK was sensational. I left just as the cameras were going up and speeding was getting criminalized!

I have the fondest memories of riding in the UK, but boy am I happy I live here now, I came here to ride, it was the endless open roads that made me fall in love with the place.
