New Contis coming in

Postby Bruno Brasletti » Tue Oct 27, 2009 10:26 pm

So, after been experiencing a few strange reactions from the OEM Michelins, I'm due next Thursday for the 10.000Km service and I've just received a new set of Contis Sport Attack.

Has I reported in other foruns, in several ocasions I felt specially the back skidding, but on a couple of ocasions, even the front felt as if it was just about to go. The only comum factor to all ocasions was that it always hapened when riding calmly; riding hard, no problems!

So, since I wanted to get rid of the back tyre (as it was close to it's end) nothing better then a ride with the BMW bike club: a huge load of highway miles!!! Great guys, excellent ride and lovely wine and food, but with these guys, you wont get any fast mountain roads...

Here's how my rear tyre ended up, after 700Km in one day

So, hopefully, by Friday I'll be able to post how the Contis behave... ;)

Look forward to hearing how they work...

I wonder if the slight unease I've felt with my bike is the tires, especially since you noticed it the most when riding more calmly.

I had a set of conti road attacks on my previous k1200r. I liked them very much.
I think the milage you will get out of the sport attacks would be little less than the road version but if you ride alot of twisty roads who cares when you get some more grip in return.
The Michelins are ok, no grip problems encountered but then again most roads here are straight with the occassional :o roundabout  or fast highway curve/sweep.
Only on heavy braking with front and some rear it will start to slide, nothing uncontrolable and probably not curable by changing to different tire.
Cheers
